Training Wheels are off!

DSC_1211.jpg

This weekend we said goodbye to Malaika’s mom. She has been at the house with us since before Tre was born and I can’t thank her enough. She was an amazing help. Providing us with valuable information and just helping us with the little things such as dinner and the laundry. At this point I’m now reasonably sure I won’t accidentally kill the child.

We certainly couldn’t have gotten to this point without her and I can’t thank her enough. Although it also helps that since this is the first grandchild she’s completely smitten by the little guy. And who can blame her – he is pretty cute. One of the things we did that was smart was that as we approached our last week with her, we asked her to not help us as much. That way we could get used to caring for Tre and still have some assistance if we needed it.

If you are like us and don’t have family nearby I would definitely recommend having a family member stay with you during the first few weeks of living with a newborn. When you’re feeding a baby every 2 hours the little things like eating and washing your cloths are often forgotten.

As an addition here are some easter shots. Let the record show that Dad found and purchased this outfit.

    Hurray for Grandma!

Grandparents are such a vital part of our chain of life.

I really don’t agree with the “training wheels are off” metaphor.

You have both been blessed by strong family traditions and support. Mr. and Mrs. Talley and Mr. and Mrs. Pryor may not be there in person all of the time, yet their guiding lights illuminate the way all of the time!

Have fun with the diapers! Better you than me!!!
