We’re on final approach to delivery of the Pryor’s first baby. It’s been about 6 hours since Malaika’s water broke. She toughed out the first few hours like a trooper and made it to 4cm without any drugs. However at that point the pain was pretty much unbearable and we called in the anesthesiologist for an epidural.
My cell phone has been blowing up with well wishes from friends and family and it’s really appreciated. Seriously you guys are wonderful – we feel very loved. Miranda also brought me lunch(it was delicious Miranda Thank you!) – it’s easy to forget to eat when your poor wife is going through agony.
The epidural has kicked in fully and she’s resting now, I got a chance to eat lunch, grab some coffee and make a few calls. At this point the doctors are saying that she will dilate about 1cm per hour. So we’re looking at a delivery time of about 6 hours from now. Child delivery is definitely a marathon and not a sprint.
I’ll pass on more information as we get closer to the moment. For now I think I’m going to close my eyes and get some rest as well.
5 cm and counting! Hurray beer.
Glad to hear that things are going (relatively) smoothly!! I’ll be in touch, but I don’t want to blow up your phone just yet. Now you know you’ll have to name the baby Jay or Tucker or something cool like that, right?
Good job, big daddy!
Jay
LOL Jay you’re killing me.
